- Home Exchange (or House Swap) is where people arrange their holiday or vacation accommodation by exchanging homes with others usually at the same time and for a set period of time (but not always). It enables a person to use their home to enjoy free accommodation in other parts of the country or the world and, by living in the suburbs, experience life as a resident not a tourist.
- Hospitality Exchange is similar to Home Exchange but in this case home owners allow people to live with them in their home whilst they are in attendance in exchange for being able to stay at their guests home at some time in the future.
